Rules to keep your computer safe
It is important that you keep your computer safe (protected) otherwise criminals may be able to access all your personal information and data. They might also install malicious (bad) software that will help them steal information and can make your computer run slowly. Below are some rules on how to keep it safe - the reasons for this rules are explained in the linked pages.

Rules
  • Have an antivirus program installed and running
  • Keep your antivirus up to date
  • Do not download files from any website unless you are absolutely sure they are safe (scan them with your antivirus as soon as you can)
  • Use user accounts (make people sign in to the computer) and passwords
  • Keep your password private
  • Use complex passwords
  • Do not click on random "You have won", or "Click here for a great offer" banners, or links (they often lead to unsafe sites)
  • Have a firewall running
  • Do not open files you have been sent by email, or messenger etc, unless you are absolutely sure they are safe (scan them with your antivirus as soon as you can)
  • Do not open files from someone unless you were expecting that file
  • Keep all your software up to date (especially your operating system eg Windows, ios, Android) and your internet browsers (eg Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari)
