Input Devices
Input Devices are simply the pieces of equipment you use to get information or data into a computer.

They can require a user to make them work, such as a keyboard, or can be completely automatic, for example a light sensor such as those found on lamp posts to make the lights come on when the light level drops.

Every input device has the same basic approach - they  transform user actions or commands into electronic signals that are understood by computers.

A device detects an input (such as a key press), and it sends a signal containing the data into the processors.

  • Keyboard & Mouse
  • Web Camera
  • Microphone
  • Touch Screen
  • Bar Code Scanner
  • Sensors (eg a movement detector, or  a pressure sensor)
  • Fingerprint scanner
