Stopping Cyberbullying
There is a simple set of things you need to do when you are being cyberbullied, and these will stop it happening (it won't stop instantly, but with adult help it will stop)

  1. Screenshot what you have been sent and save it
  2. Do not respond - they want you to react, to be upset - do not play their game, responding will just make them send you more things
  3. Block the person / account sending things to you
  4. Remove yourself from any groups where you are being cyberbullied
  5. Report it to the social media network (eg Instagram, Snapchat etc - click here for info on how to report on different social media sites)
  6. Tell an adult you can trust
  7. If you are in school tell your Head of Year (or anyone in the Well Being Centre if you are at Lakelands Academy)

Getting Help
The key to getting in help is to talk to adults about it. This can be:
  • Your parents, an older brother or sister, a cousin or aunt or uncle - anyone at home you can talk to
  • A teacher or teaching assistant, your form tutor, Head of Year etc in school - basically an adult you trust
  • Online - you can talk to Childline (0800 111111) , or counselling services like Kooth and Young Minds if it is effecting your mental health.
