What is Python?
Python is a high level programming language (High level means its closer to human speech). It is one of the most popular programming languages to learn and there is demand for skilled programmers.

It has many uses but is most commonly found in:

  • Website Applications
  • Data analysis
  • Machine Learning
  • Artificial Intelligence

It was the main language behind the following popular sites:

  • Instagram
  • YouTube
  • Spotify
  • Reddit
  • Dropbox
  • Google (one of their 4 main languages)

There are two main versions / branches of python. Python 2 and Python 3. We use Python 3 - you can download the latest version here - or use an online development environment like repl.it
These pages are not designed as a completely stand alone Python course but more as a support companion for lessons in class. I rate this Computer Science Circles site if you want a training course.

I also recommend this list of basic programming terms (very useful)
