Using a Template to control your sites look and feel
The Template section on Website X5 is the main area for controlling how your Website looks.

When making a website you don't want all of your pages to have a completely different look and layout. You might think that is would look great but it was tried in the early days of the internet and it didn't, it just looked messy and amateurish, and often confused people visiting the site.

To help keep a consistent look feel and layout we use the template. From the template you can control:

  • What sections your page has (header, footer, main content, side bar)
  • What your background colour or images are for each section
  • What your different Fonts, Sizes and Colours for headings, text and hyperlinks (you can tweak these on individual pages - except hyperlinks - but setting your defaut ones in the template saves you a lot of time)
  • Your main navigation (eg the buttons you click to move around the site)

The video explains how to do each of the points above.  There are a few other sections on the template but they are more advanced and you can explore them for yourselves when you are comfortable with the basics)
